US singer Lilac Sheer at Market On The Green – 23 Sept 2017

Don’t miss US singer-songwriter Lilac Sheer performing songs from her recent album A Different Country at Market On The Green on Beckenham Green (next to St George’s Church on Saturday 23rd September at 1.3opm and 2.30pm.

A Different Country

LILAC SHEER

The album A Different Country was released in August of 2016.

The single Queen of Hollywood ranked #1 most added on US FMQB A/C chart it’s release week and charted at #9.

Stylistically compared to the likes of Alanis Morissette and Jewel, Americana singer-songwriter Lilac Sheer sings of her experiences of the world through the eyes of a girl who grew up in a religious home, served in the army, lived on different continents and wrote music intensively throughout, all of which culminate in A Different Country, an album of unique artistry and depth, that is bound to play on heartstrings you never knew you had.

New Ward Police Officer and free tamper-proof car license nuts at Market On The Green 23 Sept 2017

Two pieces of good news from our Copers Cope police team. First, a big welcome to our new District Ward Officer, Jade Bowyer. Second, she will be joining DWO Stuart Inglis at the Market on the Green on 23 September to meet the community and distribute tamper-proof car licence plate nuts. Stuart and Jade will be around the Green from midday.

Tamper-proof car licence nuts are well worth fitting as they prevent the nuisance of theft of your licence plates and stop wider knock-on crimes like driving off of garage forecourts without paying for fuel. Pick up a set, free while stocks last, after midday from the police team on the Copers Cope Area Residents’ Association (CCARA) gazebo.

Bromley Council Tax 2017-18 increase

Bromley Council have set their budget for 2017-18 and this includes Council Tax increases of 1.99% as well as a two per cent hike in the adult social care precept.  However the Council have said that there will be no further cuts to services.

Bromley Times reports that Council leader Cllr Stephen Carr said: “There have been no new cuts in services this year due to our careful handling of the budgets over the past few years, coupled with our robust approach to ensuring services are delivered effectively and efficiently by those best placed to provide them.

“We have, however, had to increase council tax to help balance the budget. In addition a government precept of two per cent is included to help mitigate the impact of the growth in demand for adult social care as our population ages – a particular issue in Bromley which has a larger than average older population.”

The attached document was given to Residents Associations at a Council Meeting late last year and provides further information about the 2017-18 Budget Strategy including graphs which show how little funding Bromley receives from Central Government in comparison to other boroughs.
